about the artist

This new collection of oil paintings represents the latest developments of Graham Hallett’s oeuvre of reinventing the natural landscape as stylised fictional places.

Working intuitively from a restricted palette, Graham distils elements of landscape—tree, rock and sky—into formalised motifs. His work offers the audience an opportunity to reimagine their own experience within nature and what can be visually conjured from the contrasts of half light and shadows.

Cassandra Hard Lawrie

“The act of painting is a kind of wakeful dreaming, not knowing how you arrived or what will unfold, yet seeming to have a hand on the rudder – guided towards an indefinable resolution.”

Graham Hallett
