# Ian Swift – Rare Birds

These assemblages are of no specific species of bird. Their form arrives through a process of working with rare or unusual found objects. During the making, simplicity is pursued through a restrained use of components, a truth to materials and respect for the found object’s history and patina; the ultimate goal being an aesthetic composition. Collecting these materials is a major part of the process, from beachcombing after floods, to trolling clean ups, op shops and garage sales; with the spirit of a magpie and eye of an eagle.
