Artist statement
I am primarily a vessel maker for utilitarian ceramics and am often looking for a way to contextualise an idea of form or texture into a vessel.
Having chosen clay as my medium I find the clay directs my work process. Utilising the particular clay’s characteristics or properties and exploring it’s limitations increasingly defines my work.
More recently I have been making large environmental sculptural work. The work has become a dialogue about landscape. Landscape becoming vessels, local landscape, devolving landscape from human influence.
