about

Riding into the Sunset

Riding into the sunset is a romantic notion. Our machines wear with age and mine has a knocking in the crankcase, suggesting it would be comforting to have a faith, on the journey to the end. These assemblages of motorcycles and riders, all heading west, festooned with religious iconography are an exploration and nod to this idea.

The following is an interview with Vincent Norton, the Sergeant at Arms of the God Botherers Motorcycle Club on religion, pain and death. “The thing about religion is that the devil is in the detail, but there’s plenty to choose from, so if you find one that agrees with you, invite it on board for the ride. Whereas death is a gift, a gift from God, wrapped in pain. How slowly the present is unwrapped is important. So instead of riding into sunsets, slow down, pull over and enjoy them.”

Vincent then took a knee and proposed the idea of a breakaway chapter, a more fundamentalist band of zealots – The Harassers and Stalkers of God M.C.

I’m not yet patched or dispatched, but have tremendous faith, I soon will be, God willing.
