Happiness is a feeling synonymous with Kayo Yokoyama’s art. In this exciting new collection of blown glass sculptures, she uses anthropomorphic engravings and resin figurines to convey feelings of joy, charm and beauty. These works appear playfully simple; yet they invite the viewer to explore their own stories. Is a fishing cat a story about relaxation, or a metaphor for challenge? Is a sleeping dog in front of a fire a symbol of a good life, or responsibility and duty? Is a rabbit in a field of carrots about dreams, or the quest to provide?

Kayo Yokoyama has been working with glass since 1996 and is renowned for her delicate engraving. Happy Days combines this unconventional drawing medium on hand-blown glass, with assemblage and narration.
