Melbourne-based artist Herman Pekel has been painting professionally for over 40 years and although particularly well known for his urban and city scenes, he is also renowned for his sensitive portrayals of the Australian landscape.

This exhibition of new work includes both urban and non-urban landscapes, where Pekel presents an evocative collection of paintings exuding liveliness, rich tones, dramatic light and atmospheric beauty. Always experimenting and pushing boundaries with supreme confidence, Pekel paints without inhibition and is not constrained by medium, tempering spontaneity with intuitive control.
